Chapter Twelve
The night was incredible. Andrew couldn’t describe it other than incredible. Jackson was very energetic, and he was happy to switch control in the bedroom. His appetite was hungrier than Andrew’s, and Andrew found it hard to keep up after a while.
Hopefully, the next night would involve in a lot more. Andrew wasn’t going to stop at just one night. Not after taking years to get the courage to seduce Jackson. Andrew wasn’t going to let anything ruin this moment.
But when he woke the next morning, still slightly buzzing from the beers the night before, Andrew found himself alone in bed. There was no sign of Jackson, no sign of his clothes. The man was nowhere.
Andrew sat up. He hadn’t noticed Jackson leaving at all. Was he downstairs? Jackson had mentioned that he had the day off, so he didn’t need to head out anytime soon. Andrew was hoping that he could have Jackson a bit more to himself once the boys were off at school and Caitlyn was at a doctor’s appointment to get her stitches.
Now it was beginning to look like Jackson had done a runner. When he said he wouldn’t.
Cursing, Andrew got out of bed and dressed. Jackson had promised that he wasn’t going to leave but clearly, he had snuck out. Was he ashamed about what they had done? Did he think of it as a mistake? Andrew didn’t think so. It had been a long time coming, in his opinion.
Obviously, Jackson didn’t think the same.
“Fucking bastard.” Andrew grumbled as he went downstairs.
There was no sign of Jackson’s shirt in the hall, but he could hear someone in the kitchen. Maybe he had been too harsh. Maybe Jackson was here.
But when Andrew hurried into the kitchen, he found Caitlyn buttering toast at the counter. Billy and Charlie were at the center counter, both eating their breakfast. Charlie beamed when he saw his father.
“Hey, Dad.”
“Hey, buddy.” Andrew kissed his head, ruffling Billy’s hair. “You sleep well, lad?”
“Yes, Dad.” Billy ducked away from him. “Would you stop doing that? I spent ages getting it right.”
“I can tell.” Andrew wiped the gel on his hand onto his shirt. Then he frowned at Caitlyn as his daughter joined her brothers. “You shouldn’t be up and about like that, Caitlyn. You should’ve called for me.”
“I’m fine, Dad. I just need to take it easy, and making toast isn’t exactly running a marathon.” Caitlyn grinned as she sat down. “In any case, I had a feeling you were a little busy.”
Andrew stared. Had they really been that loud? He didn’t think, at the back of the house, the children would hear anything. Clearly, Caitlyn had. He cleared his throat and looked away.
“Where...have you seen Jackson? He...he dropped me off last night and... well, he spent the night on the couch.”
“Oh.” Caitlyn’s eyes were glinting. “Well, if he was here, he left before we came downstairs.”
The bastard. He really had left. After promising that he wouldn’t. Andrew couldn’t help but feel pained at that.
